Sunset over the Carribean Sea2
Sunset over the Carribean Sea
The sunsets were beautiful every day. Maybe it is the lack of pollution but the best color was just before and at sunset, not after like I am used to up here.

Waterfall #1, La Paz Waterfall Gardens
The first waterfall on the hike down the trail at La Paz Waterfall Gardens
Catárata Del Toro
This incredibly beautiful waterfall cascades down 300ft into an extinct volcano. The hike down isn't too bad, maybe 375 steps, but the hike up sure got my heart rate moving. This shot was taken from an overlook on the way back up, just as the clouds broke and the light illuminated the walls and the crater.
Arenal Volcano from behind our room at the Arenal Volcano Observatory Lodge. The Arenal Volcano is the youngest of the mountains in Costa Rica and until 2010 it was the most active. Since 2010 there have been no explosive eruptions but we could see smoke trailing from the vents every day when the clouds were not closed in. It might not be actively erupting but it is not dormant.

Out there, somewhere
The Milky way is pretty faint this time of year in South Eastern New England but you can just see a little of it to the left of Orion. Taken during the Orionoid Meteor shower, unfortunately no meteors graced this image.

Take a rest, Key's style
So nice to just relax in the afternoon and take in the view. At Parmer's Resort, Little Torch Key
Somewhere between Islamorada and Marathon Key there is this old, broken down slip for sale. It was a little unnerving walking on it, as many of the pilings were completely rotted out, but it was very worth the walk.

Sutro Baths, San Francisco, California
The Sutro Baths were opened to the public in 1896 as the largest indoor swimming area in the world but now lay in ruins as part of the Golden Gate Recreation Center. There were 6 salt water pools and one fresh water pool. The saltwater pools were filled by the ocean at high tide, it was an amazing feat of engineering. It fell into disuse and was burned in an arson fire in 1966.

Where's my Leprechaun?
Sometimes the worst weather can turn into the best opportunities. It was raining and sleeting as we drove through the Lamar Valley and as we tried to go through Dunraven Pass, the pass was building up snow so we turned around and took another drive through the Lamar valley, at the far end of the valley the sun broke through and rewarded us with this beautiful rainbow.
Cold and lonely tree National Bison Range Montana
It was a cold and snowy week, had a little bit where the clouds were clearing over the Mission Mountains while we finishing up our drive around the Nine Pipes Wildlife Refuge.. There was still remnants of the frozen fog along the foothills of the mountains
Vesterhorn Meteor and a bit of an Aurora
It was cold and windy but we waited for a while and were rewarded with a bit of an aurora glow, and in one frame I was lucky enough to catch a meteor streaking through as well.
